Hey everyone! I’m an accountant but, actually, I’m crazy about nature and traveling. I’m here to share the most amazing adventure of my life in Africa! I traveled to Kenya, an incredible country on the eastern seaside of Africa, near the Indian Ocean. As a nature lover, I was amazed by the number of animals and plants.

The views there are wonderful! I was very close to Tanzania, so I actually could see Kilimanjaro. This is the tallest mountain in Africa which is covered with beautiful acacia trees. Oh, I learned there that acacia trees can share a sign of dangerous situations with each other. Incredible, isn’t it?

But the real magic happens when you come to this beautiful world of the Indian Ocean with colorful coral reefs and different fish, like the famous clownfish.

Oh, guys, I should tell you this. The sun there is just so hot. Did you know that this is the hardest weather for people? So, get ready if you go there.

Meet Ryan. Read the text and then answer the questions below

Hey! Ryan’s here. I’d like to share my life-changing story. I hope it’ll be helpful to someone. Before, my life was like a difficult puzzle. I worked as an economist in Belfast. Every day, I worked long hours and did my best to make the right predictions and plans about money. The city was noisy and full of chances to do great things. But one day, I was reading a very hard report when suddenly, I felt… unhappy. I was surprised and so was everyone else. I felt like I was living the wrong life. It was like trying to put a square into a circle.

  • 1. What happened to Ryan? How did he feel at that moment?
  • 2. Have you ever had such a situation in your life? If yes, what did you do?
  • 3. What would you like to recommend Ryan to do?
  • 4. What do you think Ryan did after this happened?
Ryan’s story continued

So, I left everything. I moved from the busy city of Belfast to a small, peaceful village in Scotland. This was a big change – from city noise to the quiet sounds of nature. At first, I was amazed by this new, relaxing life. But I soon realized that this quiet life was not what I wanted. It was too calm, too quiet. Surprisingly, I missed the noise, the people, and making important decisions.

Seeing how bored I was, I decided to do something different. This was my life, and I needed to take control. If not me, then who? If not now, then when? So, I started a new job as a…builder. I was happy to fix an old, broken building in the village. I wanted to turn it into a nice hotel. I focused on every detail, from each stone to each piece of furniture to make the hotel cozy. Now, I was not trying to make others pleased – I was doing something I really loved.

But I didn’t stop there. I started a small organic farm, growing everything from tomatoes to potatoes, from apples to berries. At first, it was confusing because I didn’t know how, but I was excited to learn and start this new incredible adventure.

Read the third post and choose True or False

When the restaurant opened, it was not just a place to eat. It was a special place where every dish used fresh food from the local area. It became very popular, not only in the village but also with food lovers from all around. This was an amazing change that made the village more exciting.

The village began to change. It became a place full of visitors who wanted to explore it, eat the local food, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes. Local community who at first was not sure about my plans now got jobs at the hotel, the restaurant, and the farm. Their lives got better, the village made more money, and many tourists started to come. Everyone was surprised by these changes, making the village a relaxing destination for travelers.

When I think about the past, I see that I am still an economist, but in a different way. I replaced studying market trends with understanding how crops grow. I stopped making money plans and started learning about farming. I left busy city life for a happy life in the country. During all this, I changed a quiet, boring village into a fun place for tourists. It’s true – anybody can change their life if they really want to.
