Hello, friends! Today, let’s talk about Black Friday, a special shopping day that happens not only in the USA but in other countries too! But when is Black Friday? It’s the last Friday in November or the next day after Thanksgiving in the U.S.

The USA: Every American prepares for this day! They make long shopping lists so they can buy presents for future holidays with big discounts, and they are ready to stand in long queues for 2.5 hours! And according to the statistics, American shoppers spent $9.12 billion on online shopping ONLY!

Canada: People in Canada don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in November. They have it at the beginning of October, but they also enjoy Black Friday later. 1.2 million Canadians plan to tell their bosses that they are ‘sick’ on Black Friday.

United Kingdom: In the UK, Black Friday is becoming more and more popular. People go shopping both in stores and online to find good deals on gifts for themselves and their loved ones. The top category where the Brits spend their money is Kitchen Stuff (e.g., blenders, mixers, toasters). Game consoles are their second most popular category.

France: Black Friday is a big day in France! On this day, people buy a lot more than usual and buy two times more than usual! On average, each person spends about €330.  Why do French shop on Black Friday? Many people are getting ready for Christmas. They buy gifts early because they don’t want to feel stressed during the holiday time. About one in five people say this.

Some people don’t like Black Friday and they started Green Friday in 2017. It is different from Black Friday. It is about buying less and being kind to the Earth. Now, more than 150 companies in France are part of Green Friday.

So, Black Friday is a day to find great deals everywhere around the world and enjoy shopping!
